Oxfordshire shopkeepers urged to sign up for loyalty card scheme
5 Oct 2011
Shopkeepers in certain parts of Oxfordshire have been urged to sign up for a new loyalty scheme that is designed to bring more custom in to the area.
Didcot Chamber of Commerce, together with Vale of White Horse District Council and Wantage Town Council, are promoting the project after a similar initiative proved successful nearby, the Oxford Mail reports.
Those who own shops in Wantage and Grove have been invited to register their interest by October 17th 2011.
Customers will then be able to collect loyalty cards which offer them discounts and offers the more they shop at registered stores.
Linda Hatter, vice-chairman of Wantage Chamber of Commerce, said: "It's a great opportunity for independent traders to reward loyal customers and encourage people who don't normally shop in the town to do so."
In August, a study commissioned by Visa Europe found that 58 per cent of people prefer contactless payment methods to cash or traditional cards when they are in a hurry, something that could influence the design of loyalty cards in the future.
