Scottish towns consider new loyalty card scheme
24 Nov 2010
Two Scottish towns are considering introducing a new loyalty card programme to entice shoppers back to the high-street, it has been reported.
Press and Journal has revealed that the business association for both Banff and Macduff is investigating how to implement a new loyalty scheme.
Officials will analyse how a similar project was launched in the town of Huntly two years ago. The Huntly Rewards project offers shoppers the chance to earn points on all their purchases in 20 participating retailers.
Firms then offer their own tailored rewards once a cardholder has accrued enough loyalty points.
Fiona Mathers, chairwoman for Banff, Macduff and District Business Association, claimed the body was in the early stages of developing the programme.
She told the news provider: "We had arranged to meet with the Huntly group but that hasn't happened yet. We plan to pick up the idea again next February and investigate it.
"We need to know the answers to these questions because that's what our members will want to know."
