Sony delays PlayStation loyalty scheme
31 Mar 2011
Sony has announced it is delaying the launch of its PlayStation Rewards loyalty scheme.
The company introduced a beta programme last autumn and it will come to a conclusion tomorrow (March 31st).
However, it has been revealed that instead of rolling out a full version of the scheme next month - as originally planned - the launch may not happen at all.
Sony sent an email to beta testers thanking them for their participation in the project and stating that their feedback was appreciated and valued.
"Based on what we learned, we have decided the programme is not ready to roll out to the public in April as originally planned," it continued.
It assured consumers that the brand will continue to thank loyal customers "with innovative offerings".
One loyalty scheme that recently got off the ground was the new offering from Ritz-Carlton, which will provide people with vouchers when they stay for a certain amount of time at one of the company's participating hotels.
