Supermarkets 'best for loyalty schemes'
3 Jun 2011
When it comes to loyalty programmes, Brits see supermarkets as offering the most attractive deals to them.
This is according to new research released by Mintel, which found that 72 per cent of people rated loyalty at these stores as either 'good' or 'very good', whether it be through offering customers financial incentives or a better service.
Mobile phone providers were the second most impressive sector for consumers, achieving 36 per cent of 'good' or 'very good' ratings, with 33 per cent opting for this choice in regard to coffee shops and restaurants.
"Supermarkets are, by a very long way, the firms which are most likely to be seen as being good at rewarding their loyal customers," acknowledged Toby Clark, senior financial analyst at Mintel.
The study also found that banks were applauded for their loyalty by 20 per cent of respondents, though credit card firms could only achieve praise from 14 per cent of people.
Recently, it was revealed that the Love Local Life loyalty card, which offers discounts to shops around Cheshire, will be rolled out to other regions following its success in Macclesfield.
