UK retailers 'not taking advantage of mobile loyalty schemes'
27 May 2011

Brits do not feel as though they are getting enough personalised loyalty scheme strategies from retailers, new research has suggested.

According to a study conducted by YouGov, which was commissioned by Steria, 65 per cent of people have requested more of these services being made available.

Currently, many feel that high-street shops are failing to keep up with mobile technology requests from customers, such as loyalty schemes being provided on their mobile phones.

Heather Barson, retail sector director for Steria UK, noted: "There is a huge, untapped market for virtual loyalty programmes delivered in a much more personalised fashion that recognises individual shoppers' profiles, including location."

Mobile payment strategies are continuing to grow in popularity, with a Monitise survey finding that around ten per cent now use this technology.

Meanwhile, the recently released Mobile Life study by TNS research has suggested that around a fifth of Brits now use payment methods and banking transactions via their mobile phones.
