US hotel operator set to update loyalty scheme
22 Feb 2011

A hotel operator in the US is set to update its loyalty scheme in order to give members a wider range of options when redeeming their points.

Carlson has confirmed that members of its Club Carlson programme, formerly known as goldpoints plusSM, will be able use their points to stay at more luxury hotels and resorts, as well as additional holiday destinations such as Hawaii and Las Vegas.

Members will accrue points each time they stay in one of the firm's, or any of its subsidiaries, hotels.

Hubert Joly, president and chief executive of Carlson, claimed a key factor in their growth strategy was to increase hotel revenue and the new programme could help the company achieve this.

She said: "In 2010, we announced a plan to double the size of our loyalty program to ten million members by 2013, and the membership grew by 24 per cent to 6.3 million members during 2010.

"We have designed Club Carlson’s very attractive value proposition to help drive further growth and results."
