Walkabout combines loyalty scheme with social media
22 Dec 2010
Australian bar chain Walkabout has developed a new social media website in conjunction with its loyalty scheme.
Customers who have signed Boomerang loyalty scheme can now join the online Walkabout Community which allows users to redeem their loyalty points for web vouchers.
They will also be able to create their own online profile and keep abreast of all the events held at Walkabout bars across the UK.
James Mawer, commercial manager of Intertain, the firm which owns Walkabout, expressed his belief that the website was the first step in their digital strategy.
He said: "This is proving to be a very powerful channel for customer engagement. As we develop our strategy we need to be able to use social media to talk to our customers, not only through our own website, but also through other social media properties."
Around 2,000 people a week have signed up to the Boomerang scheme since it was launched in October.
