NFC 'will be added to all Nokia phones'
1 Sep 2011

Individuals hoping to adapt to the emergence of cashless payments could be interested in a recent announcement from Nokia regarding the future of their smartphones.

According to Techradar.com, the telecommunications company is set to install near field communication (NFC) capabilities in all new models, including the upcoming Windows handset.

This news comes after rumours that the organisation would create NFC services for new and existing customers after introducing the technology in a London museum.

Speaking at the launch of Nokia's new Symbian OS in Hong Kong, Vice President of product marketing Ilari Nurmi confirmed that all new models would contain an NFC chip.

"All other NFC-equipped devices can also link to our products," he added.

After creating the NFC tags in the Museum of London, smartphone users were given the opportunity to use the devices to access extra information regarding particular exhibits.

In addition, the technology is utilised to promote the museum's social network that offers a number of vouchers for its shops and restaurants.
