Scottish motorists to use eMoney solutions
30 Jul 2010
Scottish motorists will soon be able to pay for their parking fee with eMoney solutions.
The new RingoGo system is set to go live in Edinburgh next Monday (August 2nd), reports scotsman.com.
Residents will no longer have to pay with cash as they can simply ring a phone number and pay via debit or credit card.
Furthermore, shoppers can add additional credit to their ticket without having to return their vehicle.
Traffic wardens will be issued with a handheld computer containing all the details of the cars that have paid their parking fee.
A council spokesman said: "The scheme uses location identification as a means of knowing what vehicles have paid to park in a street. This requires handheld devices to be able to communicate with a central database."
The technology is currently operational at the Edinburgh Travelodge and several cities across Britain.
