Canadian transit card could offer loyalty scheme
10 Jun 2010

A proposed transit card project in Canada could incorporate a number of loyalty schemes, it has been revealed.

The Regina Transit Authority plans to offer users a variety of incentives for using the card, such as air miles or reward points for regular commuters, reports the leaderpost.com

David Onodera, the city's transit director told the website: "I want to get some of those incentive programs into place fairly quickly. We really want to offer people incentive to use this card."

Cardholders will be able to make quick cashless payments for travel on the city's bus network, while there are also plans to integrate the card with other services, scuh as leisure facilities.

Operators will gain more information about when and where passengers use the bus, and adjust timetables and services accordingly.

The $3.5 million (£2.4 million) scheme is part of a large investment in the city's transport network, which also includes an overhaul of the region's roads.
