Cardiff Bus begins issuing new transit cards
19 Nov 2010

Cardiff Bus has finally begun issuing its customers with its new transit card following a month-long delay.

The Welsh bus operator launched its Iff card at the beginning of October and promised to give the first 30,000 applicants £3 worth of free credit.

This offer promoted a surge in applications, with 25,000 sent in within the month.

However, the firm has now announced that it has started to send out 24,000 units in batches, with customers set to receive their Iff card over the next two weeks.

Users can top up their card with up to £50 credit to pay for travel on any Cardiff Bus service without the need for cash.

The scheme could also be expanded to enable cardholders to use the technology on other regional buses.

A spokesman for Cardiff Bus said: "This is great as it gives us the opportunity to push forward with some exciting plans for the future - for example, internet top-ups, and integration with other bus operators."
