CBSO set to cancel London Underground contract
26 Aug 2011

Commuters who use the London Underground transit system on a daily basis could be surprised to hear that CBSO has terminated its contract with the network.

According to the London Evening Standard, the tube's largest advertiser revealed it has made the decision as a result of persistent delays regarding an upgrade programme.

The company has reportedly made a High Court appeal to receive damages for its losses as a result of London Underground's failure to present a date for improvements.

News of the termination emerges after CBSO was awarded the contract in 2006, with the firm expected to continue its services through to 2016.

Richard Sauer, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, said: "For several years CBS Outdoor has sought to engage London Underground in fruitful, bona fide discussions to address the extraordinary costs and delays attributable to them … [we are] seeking a fair and equitable resolution."

CBS Outdoor previously stated that it is looking forward to creating advertising campaigns for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
