Designer creates London Underground app
26 Jul 2011

Frustrated commuters looking for up-to-date information about the London Underground could soon be provided with a solution.

With the help of developers Operandi, designer Mark Noad has created a new application for use on a range of smartphones.

After publishing the newly rejuvenated map on the TubeMap website, Mr Noad received high levels of attention from people seeking more information.

The app is set to be made available to iPhone and Android users in the next few months and will cost 59p to download.

"This was as a result of friends from overseas telling me how confusing they found the official map. Judging from the feedback, a lot of Londoners have also warmed to it," Mr Noad remarked.

Future plans for the service are set to include increased layers, disabled access, walking shortcuts and time between stations.

In other London Underground news, workers union RMT has recently rejected government proposals for a 4.75 per cent pay increase for staff working in the capital.
