Ingenico chosen to manage RATP payments
22 Mar 2010

The Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP), operators of the Paris transit system, have chosen Ingenico to manage its centralised payment transactions system.

More than ten million people use the transit system every day.

Jacques Behr, managing director of Ingenico France, was delighted to be awarded the contract.

"We are particularly proud that the RATP has chosen us for managing its entire payment transaction system," he said.

"Through its choice, we are fully aware that the RATP makes us a partner in its daily commitment towards its users in terms of quality of service, availability and security," he added.

It is hoped that the appointment will enable users of the transit systems to make their journeys with increased ease, convenience, speed and security, a priority of the RATP.

The organisation chose Ingenico, a technology partner of sQuidcard, the UK based contactless smart card specialists, because of their project management experience and global track record of performance and reliability.

Across the world, contactless smart card technology is increasingly being used to make payments for goods and services. Though particularly prevalent on transit networks, providers such as sQuidcard are able to extend that offering to retail payment, cashless catering and loyalty schemes.
