London Underground stop transformed into art gallery
13 Oct 2011

People making use of the London transit system this week may be forgiven for thinking they have wandered into an art gallery if they use the Regent's Park tube stop.

According to Culture 24, platform two of the station on the Bakerloo line of the London Underground has been transformed into a showcase for the New Sensations prize.

The work of finalists will be displayed by the Saatchi Gallery and Art Below so that people can see the standard of the entries in this year's prestigious award.

Paintings, sculptures and photography will all be available for viewing until this weekend, while more artwork will be on display in Regent's Park itself for the annual Frieze Art Fair.

In total, more than 50 talented young artists will be represented, so culture vultures may want to get their Oyster Card at the ready to go and have a look.

Last month, former banker Ajit Chambers and the Ministry of Defence announced plans to transform disused stations from the London Underground transit system into new tourist attractions.
