London Underground unveils five-year pay offer
10 Aug 2011
Staff from the London Underground transit system have presented a new five-year pay offer to trade unions in a bid to come to an agreement regarding wages.
As part of the newly proposed deal, employees would receive a five per cent pay increase in 2011, as well as a 0.25 per cent rise in the next three years.
In addition, workers would be able to take advantage of growth as a result of inflation and a 0.5 per cent ascend in the final year of the programme.
Previously, the organisation's staff have proposed that basic pay could be improved if trade unions limited their previous terms and conditions to save money.
Howard Collins, Chief Operating Officer of London Underground, said: "[We] have made a very fair and affordable multi-year pay offer to the trade unions that … will enable our employees' salaries to keep pace with the cost of living."
This news comes after the transit system was unveiled as one of the overall sponsors of the RailStaff Awards 2011, alongside Network Rail, Rail.co reports.
