New debit card accepted on transit system in UAE
11 Jul 2012

A new debit card has been launched and will allow holders to pay for their journeys on a transit system in the UAE.

The Go4it Visa Gold debit card has been launched by Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

This card can be used to make payments on the RTA transit network in Dubai and at parking meters in the Emirate.

"Globally, the usage on debit cards has been increasing steadily over the last couple of years and this trend has begun to be reflected in the UAE as well," said Suvo Sarkar, general manager of retail banking at Emirates NBD.

He went on to say that cardholders simply have to swipe the Go4it Visa Gold debit card at payment points across the transport network to pay for their journeys or parking.

Recent research from Mastercard revealed that more and more people who head overseas are making cashless payments while they are abroad.
