New royal wedding souvenir Oyster card unveiled
29 Mar 2011

People who are looking forward to the royal wedding will be able to purchase an Oyster contactless payment card to commemorate the occasion.

The souvenir, which was unveiled by mayor of London Boris Johnson, will be available eight days before Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot.

They are set to walk down the aisle at Westminster Abbey on April 29th, which has been declared a public holiday in the UK.

Issued by Transport for London, the special Oyster card features a picture of the couple taken on the day they announced their engagement.

A total of 750,000 have been created and people will need to pay a £5 deposit, as well as topping up a minimum of £5.

Mr Johnson said it will give city residents, as well as visitors, the chance to obtain a "fabulous memento".

"I would also recommend the card to the happy couple as the cheapest, easiest way of getting around this city, especially as it bears their resemblance," he added.
