New ticketing platform could expand emoney travel options
7 Oct 2010
A new ticketing platform has been developed which could allow manufacturers to produce a single reader for all emoney payment methods.
Digital security firm HID Global has released its veriCLASS platform, enabling developers to offer both closed loop and open loop transaction options to customers.
This would mean passengers could pay for travel with a smart transit card or a bank card at the same payment terminal.
Mark Scaparro, senior vice president of identification solutions at HID Global, claimed the new technology would eliminate the hassle associated with producing a universal system.
He said: "With veriCLASS, we are raising the bar by offering an innovative, world-class product that provides system integrators, terminal manufacturers, OEMs [original equipment manufacturers] and solution providers with everything they need to bring finished solutions to market faster than ever before."
The platform supports a range of payment schemes such as Mastercard, Visa and American Express, as well as all major operating systems.
