Plans outlined to improve Bank and Monument Tube stations
10 Nov 2011

Plans that would see improvements made to the Bank and Monument section of London Underground's transit system will be on display in the city until Friday (November 11th 2011).

London Underground (LU) wants to reduce congestion and improve passenger numbers at the station, which is one of the busiest on the whole network.

The proposals include a new southbound Northern line, extra escalators and lifts to a new ticket hall, which could contain facilities to top up eMoney on Oyster cards.

If the plans are given the go-ahead, construction would begin in 2015.

LU's David Waboso said: "Bank is one of the busiest stations on the network and we've been working closely with the City of London Corporation on plans to create more capacity at this important interchange."

Bank and Monument are interlinked stations and have been this way since 1933. They span the entire length of King William Street in the City of London.
