Royal wedding Oyster card sales top 200,000
10 May 2011

The much-anticipated royal wedding has now been and gone, with a special Oyster card that honoured the occasion doing well in sales.

Transport for London (TfL) revealed that the limited-edition royal wedding Oyster cards have already brought in profits of £2 million, thanks to 200,000 of them being sold.

Featured on the item is a picture of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who tied the knot at Westminster Abbey in extravagant fashion on April 29th. This memorable date is also highlighted on the card.

A spokesperson at TfL noted that this edition of the Oyster card "has been extremely popular", though people can still get their hands on their own souvenir.

That is because 550,000 of the items remain available, which are priced at £10 - £5 of credit and £5 for deposit.

Following their big wedding day, Wills and Kate have now jetted off to the Indian Ocean resort of Seychelles to enjoy their belated honeymoon.
