Strikes planned on London Underground
10 Jun 2011

Individuals who use transit cards in order to pay for travel on the London Underground via contactless methods have been told of strikes planned on the tube.

Workers on this popular commuter service have outlined the dates that they are planning walk outs for, with four instances in a matter of a two-week gap.

RMT, the London Underground's employees' union, revealed that the first protest will take place between 21:01 BST on June 19th and 03:00 on June 20th, with the second strike starting at 21:01 on June 27th and running until 11:59 on June 28th.

Next up is a walkout on June 29th, this time at 12:00, which will last until 11:59 the following day, with the last protest of the cluster between 12:00 and 21:00 on July 1st.

A spokesman at Transport for London slammed the decision, saying: "It is completely mystifying that, having agreed with London Underground that the tribunal process should take its course, the RMT leadership is now threatening strike action again."

The London Underground is a popular transit system for those travelling around the capital, with an average of 1,065 million passengers carried via the tube each year.
