Top tips for staying cool on the Tube in warm weather
1 Jul 2011
Even though the worst of the heatwave seems to be over in London, people in the capital who use the Tube transit system have been given advice to ensure they stay cool and safe on the Underground.
According to the BBC, temperatures over the coming days are only expected to reach just over 20 degrees C, which is significantly lower than the 30 degrees C seen at the beginning of the week.
However, humidity levels are still high and it is vital for Oyster card holders and other Tube users to ensure they are equipped to deal with the heat of the London Underground transit system.
Transport for London (TfL) has advised all users of the Tube to ensure they have water with them whenever they travel.
It is important not to board a train if you are feeling unwell and if you do start to feel ill while travelling, TfL recommends getting off at the next station and seeking help from staff.
People also need to avoid pulling the passenger alarm between stations, as it is easier for help to be given at the station itself, it was suggested.
