US students set to use eMoney solutions in taxis
27 Aug 2010
Students at a US university will soon be able use eMoney solutions to pay for their taxi fare, it has been revealed.
Nashville-based Vanderbilt University is set to expand the functionality of its Commodore Card following its partnership with Taxi USA, reports insidevandy.com.
The card is currently used as a student ID, as well as a prepaid card for foods and goods on and off-campus, but the new deal will enable users to pay for their fare without the need for cash.
Lori Murphy, student body president at Vanderbilt University, expressed her belief that cardholders would significantly benefit from the programme.
She told the news provider: "We want to ensure that students who need to go to Green Hills mall, want to go downtown or are stranded somewhere have a way that they can safely travel.
"We pushed to make sure the program was most conducive to student behavior and lifestyle."
