Worcester motorists set to benefit from e-money parking system
4 Nov 2010

Motorists in Worcester will soon be able to use e-money to pay for their parking fare in the city centre, it has been revealed.

From 15th November, 14 of the City Council's off-street car parks will be fitted with the new RingGo cashless parking service.

Drivers do not have to visit a machine and can simply ring up the provided number and pay the required fare with their credit or debit card.

Nicki Williams, chairman of Worcester Business Improvement District (BID), which funded the scheme, claimed local businesses helped drive the development of the programme.

He said: "It's easy to see the benefits: For motorists, it provides an easy way to pay for parking and it can also let you know when your time is running out.

"Rather than having to trek back to your car to add more money, or worse still risk a penalty charge notice, you can simply call up again and extend your stay."
