Young people 'are keen to embrace mobile payments'
3 Oct 2011

Opportunities presented by the use of mobile payment techniques are more likely to be embraced by a younger generation of people, one expert has claimed.

Simon Curtis from YES-Wallet.com suggested that individuals between 16 and 30 years old were willing to adopt the technology to purchase items as part of their routine.

The expert cited the fast-paced nature of mobile payment methods as one of the main reasons for their increasing popularity, removing the requirement to queue in busy shops.

In addition, Mr Curtis suggested that young people are more likely to embrace new technology and carry their phones around with them as part of their daily lives.

He added: "Certainly I see the 16 to 30 age group as being the segment that will readily embrace the new phones and the capability to make payments, why wouldn't they?"

The comments emerge after Yes-Wallet.com announced its new Pouch product would be released later this month, allowing users to make faster payments in any location and at any time.
