"sQuid eMoney launches biometric payments at Banbury School "
12 January 2010
sQuid, the ePayments operator, has announced the launch of a new biometric-enabled school payment scheme at Banbury School in Oxfordshire.
sQuid has teamed up with Cunninghams, CRB and BioStore to deliver the fully integrated EPOS till system working through a biometric identifier. This is used to create a digital identifier from a student’s fingerprint, enabling them to pay for their school meals from a pre-loaded sQuid payment account.
Adam Smith, Managing Director at sQuid said, “Biometric payment solutions make huge sense in busy school lunch environments, enabling fast transactions and removing the need for cash in school. We have worked closely with our technology partners to deliver this scheme and we are all delighted with the results.”
Topping up the sQuid account and viewing transactions online is very quick and simple for parents, and it allows them to make sure their children’s money is being spent appropriately. It also completely removes the need for cash on the school campus, so parents no longer need to find change for their child. Another example of sQuid helping to make life easier.
sQuid already provides cashless payment solutions in schools around the UK, and is dedicated to lowering administration costs for schools, as well as making it easier for parents and pupils to pay for lunches and other services at their school. The use of this system dramatically reduces queues in school and encourages more pupils to eat school lunches.
Jane Ablett,Income Development Officer at Banbury School said, “Setting up sQuid payments in the school canteen has enabled us to remove the need for cash and has reduced the lunchtime queues. Parents no longer need to worry about handing out change each morning as they can top up their child’s sQuid account online.”
