How does it work?
Get it, Load it, Use it
sQuid is deliciously simple. All you need to get started with sQuid is get a card with sQuid on it, load some money on to it and then start using it.
Get it - Online or in-store
You can get a sQuidcard Online now or you can pick one up from a participating sQuid store. sQuid can also be found on Bolton Council smart cards, including the BSmart card.
Load it - Top up online or in-store
You can load your card, top up, with anything up to £100, which is the maximum amount you can have on your card at any one time. You can do this Online once you have registered your sQuid card or top up at a participating sQuid store.
Use it - In-store
You can use a sQuid card wherever you see the sQuid ‘Q’. Tell the retailer that you'll be paying by sQuid. Check the amount on screen, hold your card near the sQuid reader, hold it for a few seconds until your transaction is completed and you're done.
Individual purses on your card
Each sQuidcard has a unique security number that is linked to a specific eMoney account or purse. When you make a purchase, the card reader scans the encrypted code and will either accept or reject the payment, depending on the available funds.
Protect your card if lost
If you lose your card and notify us, we can send you a replacement and transfer any remaining balance to your new card. For us to be able to do this, you must register your card.

Check it
If you have registered your card, you can reload it online. You can also check your balance and see a breakdown of your transactions.
Never run out of cash ...
You can easily top up your card online or in-store at a sQuid merchant who accepts top up payments. Check the sQuid map for details.
